I have had a 1979 Wms Stellar Wars project pinabll I have been working on off and on for some time. I bought a couple non working pins in a package deal earlier. The machine never booted, no sound no display. I found out the CPU chips (roms) were bad. I picked up a replacement/upgrade CPU board. I needed the newer style to hold the new chips the old ones are obsolete.
The play field was checking and wore on several places. I applied a 'wash coat' and repainted the damaged parts. I applied a clear sealer, when it cures I will go back and touch up the details and then re clear again.
before photo's, from my web site. I should zoom in on some damage for a better look at how bad it was. Look at the huge center red insert, it should have a white ring around it I attached an image NOT MINE of what it should look like.

It is an old school Steve Ritchie wide body. 5 pop bumpers, 3 banks of drop targets, messenger ball and a kick out hole.
I have the machine alive, it now boots, plays, keeps score, with all displays and sounds. All lights on play field now work.
I still need to replace the coil that kicks the ball out at the start, rebuild the flippers, make new drop target decals, level inserts, replace the knocker coil, touch up and clearcoat the play field.
