Speaker Static

Speaker Static
I purchased an IGT Austin Powers from an ebay vendor approximately 3 years ago.
It's in excellent condition, except for excessive static in both speakers.
It comes & goes.
I had asked the vendor about it upon delivery, & he assured me it was a trait of "ALL" IGT machines.
I can't believe that would be the case.
So far,
~I've removed all panduits binding the speaker wire to any other type of cable,
~I've removed the speakers & cleaned metal dust (resembling tiny steel wool pads) from between the speakers & the speaker covers,
~I've inspected the diaphragms of the speakers & found no punctures or perforations,
~I've cleaned the magnets of the speakers with a dry cloth (removing a small amount of metal dust from each)
~I've sprayed a bit of canned air in the speaker cover & into the backside of the diaphragms
~I've inspected the wires for any breakage & found none
~I've checked the connections
If anyone has a similar IGT pachislo,
please check your machine & tell me if you have the same speaker connectors above the reels as I do.
~One 2pin connector
~One 3pin connector (of which there are only 2 wires)
Similar titles:
~Addams Family
~Alien (not "Aliens")
~Austin Powers
~Dragon Dice
~Harley Davidson
~Spin Luck
A big "thanks in advance" to anyone that can help

I think the one thing that will clear it all up is.....Spray Silicone.
Get a small can preferably with a tube that goes on the end if the spray nozzle. Spray a little into the volume switch's, with the machine off at first, work those switches, a lot!
Then turn on the machine, and work them a little more, and play. You should notice a huge difference! If you have "after market" Volume controls, do the same thing with them. It will clean the crud and grease from the contacts, and give you nice clean sound!

wow i never figured that putting silicone on the switch would help.
Ive played two older IGT games Muscle Tomato and RWB and they both had some speaker static.

My AP has the same set up.
No static though. I had a little on a Spin Luck but I used compressed air and toggled the volume switch back and for forth and it hasn't returned.
One other thing. When I first got Austin I needed to reseat the connectors on the power box behind the hopper. Worth a shot.

Earlier this morning I purchased 1 can of silicon lubricant spray & 1 can of electronic contact cleaner.
It seemed like the proper protocol to use the cleaner before applying the silicon.
After applying the contact cleaner spray to both volume switches & switching between all 3 volumes continuously (& repeating twice)...
I have yet to hear any static.
As a matter of fact, there's not even the slightest hum, just sweet silence. (with the exception of the programed audio, of course)
I had left the power on for a few hours, played for almost an hour...
Then powered it down for an hour & back on for another hour.
Not the slightest crackle yet.
Always the pessimist, I switched Austin back on 15 minutes ago to check before posting, & he's still "Groovy Baby, Yeah!!!"
If it returns, I'll apply the silicon lube for good measure...
but for now, I'd hate to spoil a good thing. (because that's my type of luck)
Thanks again to arraking for pointing me in the right direction
I would have never thought to check the volume switches

Nice Tikitim, I knew it would work... And you will no doubt play it more, now there is no static!
It may return in a year or so, but you should be good for a while
Thanks Lou and everyone else, like I said just like to help out when I can.
Going in for knee surgery next week, so I'll be down for a few days next weekend. So wish me luck
